Headed up to the Elk River Friday afterwork to get the skunk off me from the last ARF trip Sad. After spending some time with Rhonda Page at Tim's Flies and Lies in Lynchbugh I headed over to Ferris Creek Bridge where quees who I run into? Chips and friend Grin. They had been fishing the area since sometime after noon. Chuck said he didn't have as much luck as his friend but they ensured me there were still fish to be caught Cheesy.
I finally got into the water at 6:00pm and fish were rising all around but I couldn't seem to be able to set the hook on the numerous hits I was getting. I finally found out why when I caught this little guy....

shortly after I caught my first Tn Brown, nice color

ended with two rainbows

Seeya on the water

The weather was just too nice to not be fishing so I headed back to the water Tuesday.
I didn't figure to have much luck with the recent rains but was surprised that the water wasn't any higher or faster than the Friday trip. Thea water was stained but I could still see my shoes in knee deep water but no Chips sighting this day.
Decided to do a little river exploring to get to know the area better. Walked down stream on one of the footpathes untill a small part of the river splits off and found a nice gravel shoal that varied from a little over ankle deep to mostly knee deep before dropping offnext to the main river channel. That is where I caught my one and only fish, a 10" rainbow, of the day. I look forward to many more days on the stretch of the Elk River.
