Feb 28th Sipsey

Made a trip down to the Sipsey Sunday to clear some of the cabin fever thats been hanging around with all this cold, wet weather.
The regular spots were a little crowded so we decided to try some new water. Luckily I keep some rope in the truck for such occassions and we needed it to reach the water and a nice gravel bar that edged a deep channel. The fishing wasn't the best I only caught 2 on an olive wooly after about 3hrs. We had a couple of regulars drop in on us during the day on their way out who didn't have much luck either.
As we were getting ready to leave a couple of guys stopped to show us their catch, I'm glad the did. I now know what is swiming in the Sipsey

Another fellow and I fished the Sipsey with the Squirrel on the 28th and didn't have much luck either.  I unfortunately left just before the guys showed up with the 19 incher.  Squirrel posted pictures of the big hawg on another forum so I got to see it and was stunned (and encouraged) that a trout that size was holding over in the Sipsey.  I've never heard of a fish over 16" coming out of that tailrace and I certainly have never caught anything that size.  Now I have something to shoot for!
